How to Trigger Events in Stellaris (event Command)

Fire any event by ID with the event command.

Stellaris storylines, anomalies and crises are driven by events. The event command lets you fire any of them on demand — handy for testing an outcome, re-rolling a result you didn't like, or pushing a specific chain forward. First, open the command console (~).

The event command

The syntax is event [event id] [empire id]. The empire ID is optional. To fire an event on your own empire:

Or to start an event in a specific empire (here, the one with ID 5):

Your own empire is always 0. See the event command page for the full reference.

Finding event IDs

Event IDs follow a namespace.number pattern (like galcom.2 or distar.13011) and are listed on the Stellaris event list. Copy the ID of the event you want into the command.

Tips

  • Many events expect certain conditions (a specific situation, project or galaxy state). Firing one out of context can do nothing or behave unexpectedly.
  • To find an empire's ID for the second argument, turn on debugtooltip — see how to find IDs.
  • Cheats disable achievements for the session and don't work in Ironman.

Frequently asked questions

How do you trigger an event in Stellaris?

Use event followed by the event ID, e.g. event distar.13011. Add an empire ID after it to fire the event in a specific empire; 0 is always your own.

What is the empire ID argument for?

The optional second number targets which empire the event fires in. Your own empire is always 0, so event distar.13011 0 fires it on you.

Where do I find event IDs?

Every event ID is on the event list. They look like namespace.number, for example galcom.2 or distar.13011.
