Energy credits are Stellaris's main currency — you spend them on ship upkeep, building construction, edicts and trades. When your economy stalls, the fastest fix is the cash command, which drops energy credits straight into your stockpile. This guide covers the exact syntax, the default amount, and a few tips for using it without breaking your save.
The energy credits cheat
First, open the command console with the tilde key (~). Then type the cash command. On its own it grants 5,000 energy credits:
Add a number to choose exactly how much to receive. For example, to add 100,000 energy credits:
See the full reference, including every accepted argument, on the cash command page.
How the amount works
cash— adds the default 5,000 energy credits.cash 10— adds just 10 (the number is the exact amount, not a multiplier).cash 1000000— adds a million for an effectively unlimited economy.
Removing energy credits
Pass a negative number to subtract instead of add. This is handy for balancing a save after testing, or for role-playing an economic crisis:
Tips
- The console — and therefore
cash— is disabled in Ironman games, and using it disables Steam achievements for that session. - Energy credits are stored, not capped at production. A single large
cashgrant lasts a long time, so you rarely need to repeat it. - Need other resources too? See how to cheat minerals, food, alloys and more.
