Anomalies are the research mysteries your science ships investigate, and many lead into longer event chains. The add_anomaly command attaches one directly to a celestial body — useful for testing a chain or handing yourself a specific discovery. First, open the command console (~).
The add_anomaly command
Select the planet, moon or asteroid first, then run add_anomaly [category id]. For example:
Or to add an asteroid collision anomaly:
See the add_anomaly command page for the full reference.
Finding anomaly IDs
Anomaly category IDs (most end in _category) are listed on the Stellaris anomaly list — copy the ID of the anomaly you want into the command.
Tips
- The command targets the selected body — if nothing happens, make sure you've clicked a valid planet or asteroid first.
- An anomaly category must be appropriate to the body type (a gas-giant anomaly on a gas giant, etc.) to behave correctly.
- Cheats disable achievements for the session and don't work in Ironman.
Frequently asked questions
How do you add an anomaly in Stellaris?
Select a planet or celestial body, then run add_anomaly followed by the anomaly category ID, e.g. add_anomaly object_gasgiant_category.
Where do I find anomaly category IDs?
Anomaly category IDs (they usually end in _category) are listed on the anomaly list. Copy the one you want into the command.
Does add_anomaly work on any planet?
It applies to the currently selected celestial body, so click the planet, moon or asteroid first, then run the command.
