No life signs were detected aboard the vessel, so while clearly an AI, the ship repeatedly prioritized self-preservation over optimal combat effectiveness. This means that the only survivor of the horrible conflict on Baloryz was sapient. The ship sent a brief message a moment before destruction: "Why" It is unclear if this was the start of the question why the inhabitants of Baloryz incinerated themselves or why we destroyed the AI ship. The technology is rudimentary by our standards, but we may gain some insights by disassembling the remains. Or because it valiantly performed its duty, we honor the AI by renaming the planet after its lone defender.

The command below will trigger the "Lone Defender" event in Stellaris:

Player choices

When this event fires, you can choose between these 3 options:

  • Pick apart the debris.
    • Engineering: +None to None
  • Rename the planet.
    • The planet Baloryz is renamed to Lone Defender.
    • Unity: +None to None
  • Rename the planet and system.
    Available only if Requires civic: Memorialists; Requires civic: Memorialist.
    • The planet Baloryz is renamed to Lone Defender. The system Xraneax is renamed to Why.
    • Unity: +None to None
