Our ascended minds are primed for further transformation. The vessels that serve as support to the physical needs of the mind could become much less significant. If we continue down this path, our population can transcend its concern with physical matters and commit itself fully to a partial existence inside of the Shroud. A reduced capacity for physical labor will be a small price for gains in mental acuity.
