If they did not understand before, they know now viscerally: we are all part of something greater.
The command below will trigger the "Faith Enforced" event in Stellaris:

When this event fires, you can choose between the following option:
- OK
- Any Mechanical, Machine, or Hive-Minded Pops are destroyed by the psionic resonance. All remaining Biological Pops become Spiritualist. Adds the Divine Light modifier to … for 10 years: Spiritualist Ethics Attraction: +999%.
