As suspected, the asteroid … holds within it a great mass of metal and does indeed hide some manner of machinery. The gathered data clearly shows that its constituent parts contain great quantities of stored energy, but its purpose remains unknown.

• Proceed carefully.
  • Gently excavate the asteroid.
• Probe it.
  • Dispatch a drill probe to retrieve a sample.
