These land-bound arthropoids constructed thousands upon thousands of interconnected termite-like mounds on …'s surface, at a time when most of the planet's water was contained in polar icecaps. Rising planetary temperatures, however, slowly doomed the species that had persisted for millennia to a watery grave. None remain today.
