The Way of the Thralls

Across the planet, the Anathari faltered. Flesh, bone, memory: all they had once been began to fade away. King Tamperion was the last. When his time came, he did not speak. The colonists reported his end as a flash of light and a halo of golden petals. All that remained was the Dark Immortal. We felt it settling into the hollow spaces in our minds. Something dark and ancient wormed its way within us. A transference, slow and absolute. From the Dark Immortal to us, from what had been to what now was. Our colonists are no longer just …, but something else now. Something... new.
