Ancient Battle Site

The refined material has been uncovered, and while further study is needed, our initial impression is that this is the remains of a vast battle site. It appears that one side descended from orbit and was engaged by planetbound defenders. Why there was no orbital bombardment and who the victor was remains unclear.
