In-Depth Description

The survey command in Stellaris is a special cheat/console command that instantly surveys all celestial bodies in the galaxy.

In Stellaris, surveying is an important early game action that is carried out by science ships. It helps to expose resources and other points of interest, such as anomalies, that are found in most systems you have not yet explored.

It is important because it uncovers potential planets for colonization, resources for exploitation, and sometimes special projects or events that can yield additional benefits or challenges.

When you use the survey command, it triggers an instant survey of all celestial bodies, eliminating the need for your science ships to physically travel to each system and perform the survey manually, saving you a significant amount of time.
