Quick Overview

The Stellaris command free_policies allows the player to alter the game's policies and species rights without any limitations that might have previously been in place.

This essentially bypasses the game's normal rules, letting the player make changes as they see fit.

In-Depth Description

The free_policies is a console command in the game Stellaris that upon execution, removes any limitations or prerequisites for changing governmental policies and species rights.

Normally, there are time restrictions or other conditions that must be met to change policies in the game, such as wait times since the last switch, or minimum ethics attraction.

When the free_policies command is used, these restrictions are removed, and such changes can be made immediately and at any moment.

This can be particularly helpful if you need to quickly adapt your empire's policies to an urgent situation, if you want to try different policy combinations, or if you simply want a more flexible governance style.

How to Open the Command Console

In Stellaris, cheats are executed from the command console, a text box that you type commands into.

To open the command console press the ~(tilde) key, which is typically located under ESC (escape).

If your keyboard does not have that key, or pressing ~ does not work, try the following keys:

  • ~
  • SHIFT + 2
  • SHIFT + 3
  • ALT + 2 + 1

Type your command into the console, and then press ENTER .
