Quick Overview

The effect command in Stellaris allows you to execute a particular effect script within the game.

This typically means instigating a specific event or action. For instance, you could use it to spawn a fleet, add or change a trait, or enact many other effects.

This command usually requires additional parameters or arguments to specify the exact effect you want to apply.

In-Depth Description

The effect command allows the execution of effect scripts.

Effect scripts in Stellaris refer to a set of instructions or operations to be carried out, especially when certain conditions are met.

It is these scripts that rule or dictate a great number of the game's engine, specifically events, as well as diplomatic actions and other elements or aspects of the game.

For example, an effect script might govern what happens when a specific event occurs like a victory in a battle or establishment of a new colony, including the rewards or outcomes that the event results in.

The effect command allows you to manually trigger these effect scripts, meaning you can cause the event described in the effect script to occur immediately, regardless of whether the conditions specified in the effect script are met.

How to Open the Command Console

In Stellaris, cheats are executed from the command console, a text box that you type commands into.

To open the command console press the ~(tilde) key, which is typically located under ESC (escape).

If your keyboard does not have that key, or pressing ~ does not work, try the following keys:

  • ~
  • SHIFT + 2
  • SHIFT + 3
  • ALT + 2 + 1

Type your command into the console, and then press ENTER .
