Quick Overview

The contact command in Stellaris is a console command that initiates first contact with all empires in the game.

This means, it automatically triggers a diplomatic interaction or encounter with all the civilizations/empire entities in your game, regardless of their location or your current exploration progress.

It may reveal previously undiscovered systems or species. It can be useful if you want to interact with all the entities and expedite diplomatic ties from the very beginning of the game.

In-Depth Description

The contact command in Stellaris is used to gain contact with all empires in the game.

This console command will instantly create first contact with all AI empires, bypassing the normal process where you gradually meet other empires as you explore the galaxy.

The command can be very helpful in multiple situations.

It can make the game more dynamic by quickly expanding your range of diplomatic options, and it might be especially useful if you're playing a xenophilic (alien-friendly) empire since this can speed up the establishment of diplomatic relations.

On the other hand, if you're playing a xenophobic (alien-hating) empire, it can make the game more challenging as you'll quickly have a lot more potential enemies.

How to Open the Command Console

In Stellaris, cheats are executed from the command console, a text box that you type commands into.

To open the command console press the ~(tilde) key, which is typically located under ESC (escape).

If your keyboard does not have that key, or pressing ~ does not work, try the following keys:

  • ~
  • SHIFT + 2
  • SHIFT + 3
  • ALT + 2 + 1

Type your command into the console, and then press ENTER .
