Once executed, it causes the player to acquire direct control over all planets and starbases that belong to a specific empire.

Typically, you use the annex console command followed by the tag of the empire you wish to acquire.

For example, Annex 5 would mean you are taking over the empire with the id 5.

This command is really helpful say if you really want to end a war that's been dragging on for too long.

Instead of struggling with capturing each individual planet or starbase, you can just annex the entire empire and move on to the next political or military objective in your grand strategy.

How to Open the Command Console

In Stellaris, cheats are executed from the command console, a text box that you type commands into.

To open the command console press the ~(tilde) key, which is typically located under ESC (escape).

If your keyboard does not have that key, or pressing ~ does not work, try the following keys:

  • ~
  • SHIFT + 2
  • SHIFT + 3
  • ALT + 2 + 1

Type your command into the console, and then press ENTER .
